How a democratic system would affect a previously non democratic society is something that we can relate to in our world today.
There have been many countries, that within the last two decades, have become democratically governed, such as Brazil and Indonesia. Democracy has greatly affected people in these countries. Previously cruel, unfair, or corrupted governments have become better with democracy. People have gained many benefits from their country being democratised, such as equal rights and the ability to have a say about the future of their country. Quality of life has been improved, people have become more educated and people have become wealthier. Recent conversions to democracy have greatly affected people’s lives, similar to my theory on how democracy would affect societies of the Middle Ages.
